All about me

For this activity, all about me, we had a variety of choices. The goal was to finish these activities to learn about our classmates and for our classmates to learn about us.

For the who am I we had to give some clues, not too many, about ourselves.

For this activity, we had to put together some words to describe what we like and I also added that I have annoying siblings.

Now for this video, we had to decide what we would do if we were president.

The Treaty of Waitangi

In 1840 on the Bay of Islands, the sixth of February, the Treaty of Waitangi was signed. There were two versions of the treaty, Māori and English.

DLO area

We are learning to calculate the perimeter, area and volume of shapes:

Our task:

Make two different shapes, using the unifix cubes, that have a volume of:

  1.  36 cm cubed

(Insert photos of your two different shapes)

  1.  What is the perimeter of each shape? Cube: 14 cm. Rectangle: 18 cm.

  2.  What is the area of the bottom level of each shape?  Cube: 6 cm.  Rectangle: 18 cm

What formula can we use to work out:

Perimeter: 2 x L + w

Area: Length x width

Volume: Length x width x height.

From this activity I learnt that the area can be the same, even if the shape changes but the perimeter might be different.

Forces and Motion: Marble run

On Tuesday, September the 15th, we made marble runs and we finished them off this morning. The goal was to make the marble last 20 seconds long on the marble run that we made. Me and my friends made a marble run and ours went for 3.58 seconds. That may not seem very long but we bet three groups.

We were doing the marble to finish off our topic, forces and motion. We were learning mainly about gravity and friction.

I enjoyed making the marble run because it was a lot of fun and it was very interesting.

I found it challenging because we had to keep improving it and fixing up our mistakes but other than that, it was really fun.

Next time I would try to make it last longer and try to slow the marble down.
