DLO area

We are learning to calculate the perimeter, area and volume of shapes:

Our task:

Make two different shapes, using the unifix cubes, that have a volume of:

  1.  36 cm cubed

(Insert photos of your two different shapes)

  1.  What is the perimeter of each shape? Cube: 14 cm. Rectangle: 18 cm.

  2.  What is the area of the bottom level of each shape?  Cube: 6 cm.  Rectangle: 18 cm

What formula can we use to work out:

Perimeter: 2 x L + w

Area: Length x width

Volume: Length x width x height.

From this activity I learnt that the area can be the same, even if the shape changes but the perimeter might be different.

Division.

W.A.L.T understand division problems.
Division is part of the time tables family because it is the same, just turned around. For example...
6 x 4 = 24 if we turned it into a division problem it would be 24 ÷ 6 = 4.
